Murder By The SeaGeoffrey Wansell on the Pier at BlackpoolCBS Reality commisioned Monster Films - the same team behind last year's ratings hit "Voice of a Serial Killer" - to produce a new series.
The 28 x 60 minute series of "Murder By The Sea" examined some of the strangest and most terrifying murders ever recorded in British criminal history taken place at the UK’s famous seaside resorts; locations which, despite their associations with carefree holiday making, have also played host to the most remarkable crimes of murder.
Cases and featured locations include: Stephen Akinmurele of Blackpool, who remains Britain’s most prolific young serial killer; Paul Longworth, the former Commodore of Southport Sailing Club who murdered his wife claiming she had committed suicide; and Terry Clifton, who was jailed for life for Morecambe’s so-called ‘Garage Murders’.

When The Whales CameA lifelong fan of the movies, he was also executive producer of the Golden Swan production "When the Whales Came" for Twentieth Century Fox, a film based on the best-selling children’s story by former Children’s Laureate Michael Morpurgo.
Shot entirely on location on the Isles of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall in England, it starred Dame Helen Mirren, Paul Scofield and David Suchet.

In 1844 a school of Narwhal Whales were slaughtered by the islanders of Samson. Soon after, the island was destroyed by a terrible curse - the Curse of the Narwhal. Seventy years later on the small island of Bryher, two young children are playing on the beach when they befriend an old and mysterious man, known locally as 'The Birdman', he is the sole survivour from Samson and only he knows the truth behind the curse. The friendship develops until one day it is put to the ultimate test as a single Narwhal is beached on the island, and as the villagers gather to kill it, the unlikely threesome begin a dangerous mission, not only to save the whale ....but to save the island itself.

Directed by Clive Rees, 'When the Whales Came' was eventually produced in 1988, and in 1989 was given a Royal Premiere in London, before the Prince and Princess of Wales. It went on to be shown in cinemas in more than 30 countries and on video and DVD in even more. The revered British cinema critic Dilys Powell called it: ‘quite wonderful’.
